Regarding Roe and "Religion"

A cultural explosion occurred last Friday as The Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade. Instantly making abortion healthcare services not only unavailable but illegal. Many states enacted their ‘trigger’ laws which meant as soon as SCOTUS decided Roe v Wade their state laws would immediately reflect the decision. Other states in America are 30 day states so they have 30 days to enforce the mandate.

The clear majority of Americans support the legality of abortion. The majority see it as it is, a ‘decision between a woman and her doctor.’ That is what healthcare is.

Many who oppose abortion think abortion is killing “babies.” Killing life. Where do they get this notion? Religion. Specifically Christianity. Well - what does the Bible have to say about when life begins? I don’t think you get far into the second chapter of the first book, Genesis, when in the Bible there it states life begins at “first breath.” So, wait. That doesn’t add up. But so many “Christians” have stopped asking why there is a clear contradiction between the teaching in their faith book and the teaching of almost exclusively men in robes from pulpits for the last many centuries. All this to say - the Christian misinformation and contradiction on the topic of when life begins has been on purpose, and intentionally allowed to metastasize. Then ask yourself why. Ultimately Evangelical Christians want political and government power. Why? To rule over the Earth. Don’t believe me? Don’t take it from me. Do your own research on Dominionism, what “Dominion” is as it pertains to Christianity. It’s a Holy War. It’s a race war.

So now that we have established that even according to Old Testament and Christian theology their faith books clearly say life begins at first breath but contradictorily pastors have spread the manipulative teaching that embryos and fetal tissues are “life” on a legally equal footing (if not more important) than the mother carrying it. Now that we have established the contradiction - let’s take a closer look at when people say “BuT ThE BAbies it’S aLL about THE baby!”

If that fantasy were true - why are maternal death rates the HIGHEST in the country in states where the abortion restrictions are the highest? Abortion restrictions are the highest in red, or ‘Republican’ states. So in Republican states pregnant mothers die the most. If she goes, the baby goes. Pro-woman? No. Pro-life? Ha. So that doesn’t check out with ‘it’s all about the baby.’

Ok let’s look a little further. Surely those who say it’s about "the baby!” have invested their time, money and other resources so that there is better access to affordable or free lactation consultants. Yeah? NO. No free or easier accessible lactation consultants. OKOK well what about baby formula is that free for the mother so that the baby can live an excellent and well-fed early life? No. And speaking of baby formula the Baby Formula industry in America has been carefully constructed as an oligopoly by Republicans. Something like 4 main companies exist to create baby formula and they’ve destroyed most to all other “mom and pop” smaller companies. Just this year there was bacteria at a baby formula plant so when that plant, one of 4 main baby formula arteries, clogged and shut down - the baby formula industry collapses and mothers and expectant mothers then were not able to feed their “precious babies!!” So if it were about the babies surely the baby formula system in America would be ironclad and totally dependable. No? It’s not because Republicans legislated that market to be that undependable? Correct. Is that pro-baby? No. Is that pro-business? Yes.

Ok ok well surely if it’s about the “babies!!!” the Christians who are so Christian and so religious and by far morally superior have contributed their time and money and resources and power so that the healthcare of the fetus from crowning through pre-K was universal and ready to go because the life of the baby is SO IMPORTANT to the Christians. Point to me where there is universal healthcare and babies are taken care of.

So in the reddest states in the Union which are controlled by an off-the-rails destructive form of theocratic Christian terrorism - expectant moms die THE MOST, AND, Republicans created a baby food system that can shut down if the wind blows a certain way, AND, nothing has been done to ensure “the baby!!!!” has carte blanche affordable or free healthcare.

It is clearly a charade and ruse at this point. It always has been!! You can see this now more clearly that in no way, at no time have ANY of the people who’ve said “it’s about THE BABY!” done one fucking thing to make the lives of the baby or mother comfortable or more affordable. So cut the shit.

This issue is not about “THE BABIES!!” it’s about power. Power to control another person’s body. White male supremacy did that with the African slave trade here and the Jim Crow laws that followed it going on 400+ years here. 4 centuries of White property owning men creating the rules, systems, justice and policing for only their own benefit. This White power consolidated with Puritans and early “Christians” in this country in the 16th century because they both found they could get further together than if they were separate.

So this is nothing new, the concept of feeling entitled to have a say over another person’s body. White men have been doing that since the boats landed and the genocide started. Then the White men felt entitled to the bodies of Africans in the slave trade. And so then for centuries it’s been in the blood, woven into the culture that there should just be an expectation (without presence of sane justification) that White men can control women’s bodies. See: patriarchy. What have women been used for in the systems White men have created? Sex slaves, to name one job. Women in the home have had their time and labor exploited for free with the expectation that while White men would go out into the world and work and "make money” (money is buying power in capitalism and buying power is freedom and buying power means there are many choices available to those who have money. many choices are not available to those who do not have money. you see this theme repeat itself in American time and again for centuries because of capitalism). So for centuries ONLY men have the buying power, accumulate wealth, accumulate more generational wealth, have access to choices, and freedom to purchase more ‘property.’ While every other class of people in this country is forbidden from doing that, generation after generation, century after century.

Women were omitted from the Founding documents here and did not count. They were erased. They had no explicit Constitutional rights. Men have kept women in the home, raising children UNPAID, to be the cook UNPAID and maid UNPAID while expecting them to fuck and service at beckon call UNPAID.

White men have created this system to their benefit only. Buying power of more property. Access to choices.

If women were allowed access to choice(s) - that is a threat to White male power. Male supremacy.

If women were paid just as much or more as men in the workplace - women would have access to choices, and women would have more power to buy property. - that is a threat to White male power. Male supremacy.

If women were not mandated to carry “their man’s” fetus to term - men believe there is an increased risk the woman would be free to choose to cheat on him or leave him. (The humiliation! The powerlessness! Their property (which is power) chose to abandon them!) - this is a threat to White male power.

If abortion is unavailable and illegal - that ties and bounds those pregnant women to the man, now his “property". It binds the woman to the cycle created by men where the woman raises the child for free to remain a culturally powerless indentured servant for the man.

When the woman raises the child for free - the woman is no threat to White male power.

If a woman is free to enter the work force - that is a threat to White male power. Male supremacy.

If a woman is free to choose to get an education and enter the work force and not be bound to the home to pump out babies to raise for free - that is a threat to White male power.

It’s NOT about the baby! Remember - no other country on Earth spends more money annually than The United States on healthcare and gets less for it.

It’s about power. Who’s power? White male power. Male supremacy.

What is the justification for this power? The force mechanism? Religion. “Christianity” (clown emoji here)

Should we talk now about the Puritanical/Christian belief that all women are whores? Okay let’s do that.

Take Mary. The Holy Spirit comes down and impregnates her, according to the fantasy. An angel in a dream says you’re gonna have baby Jesus. (circus music here)

In the Bible (written only by men, many of whom possibly on hallucinogenics and all of the books written decades to hundreds of years after the actual events happened) the carrier of Jesus could not possibly be “soiled” by the act of sex. Enter “Virgin” Mary, stage left.

This is where the criminalization of women having sex originates. According to the Bible if you’re a woman your archetype is Mary. The holy virgin. Never really fucked! “Pure.” So then virginal is holy and good and if you fuck you’re a whore. The Bible spells this out, and Bible culture everywhere metastasized it. It’s binary. You’re either Mary or you’re Mary Magdalene. But wait there’s more…

This is passed down in the teachings for centuries. To be a woman and have sex is criminal. And criminals should be punished. Do you see where I’m going? Know of a country who’s really big on punishing types of people it likes to criminalize?

Now let me focus in. If you’re a woman according to Christianity you only have value if you do not have sex. Once you have sex you’re a whore. So in the American home for centuries a woman, to be sinless according to the book of fantasies, the woman had to be chaste. Had to have allegiance to the man in the house. If she toe’d this line she would be pure. But the woman wouldn’t be a whore if she gave her husband children. Right? Under those circumstances sex is okay. Right?! But ultimately the woman, according to Christian teachings, is property, is a whore no matter what she does. She’s in a class below White males no matter what she does. If she doesn’t fuck and fulfill her role in White male capitalism she’s USELESS to society, men, and a God who (men say) says she must procreate and spread his lineage. Well then what happens to the woman once she does fuck? She is trash. She is the whore. She is the criminal.

To the Bible and society - women cannot win. They’re a whore no matter what they do. They are an unholy criminal no matter what they do. They are in a subhuman class no matter what they do.

Women are, according to the teachings of the Bible, trash. Criminalized whores who can do nothing right. Women are full of sin. If they stay virginal they’re not really women because they’re not chained to capitalism and a life of indentured servitude. If they fuck and have babies they are non-virginal, non-”pure” whores. Criminals.

What the fuck are we doing? Why the fuck do we bother with the Bible?

There must be no fealty to the Bible and there must be NO fealty to the United States Constitution.

I’ll leave you with this. Thomas Jefferson (was a rapist.) I’ll start again…Thomas Jefferson (who over his life owned and dehumanized more than 600 Africans as slaves) may have said something worth revisiting. Thomas Jefferson said the dead shouldn’t govern the living. Meaning - he believed a New Constitution should be written every generation.

The United States has the second oldest Constitution on the planet. One which hasn’t been Amended to reflect current living people IN THIRTY YEARS.

We did not create many-to-all of the problems we are living through today. But each of us are called to solve them. To not answer our call is neglect. And what is neglect? Child abuse. Those who do not fix the problems that exist today within ourselves and society are tacitly complicit with child abuse, baby killing. Ending White male supremacy, ending patriarchy, freeing women - all these things directly benefit the lives of babies, current and future generations. Removing healthcare decisions that belong only to women, and then to criminalize women and their doctors for participating in their healthcare - is not “pro-life” - it’s child abuse.
