Colorado I Miss You Already

Boulder, you were amazing. Thanks to the BolderBeat for telling everyone in town to come to the show. The No Name Bar is run by really nice people, really felt the red carpet. Set list is close to what happened. Can't believe I didn't play 'It's A Beaut...'. Relieved I didn't play 'Crash' - I wore Dave much better years ago. Both my Colorado shows were filled with nice people. Was great to see so many friends and make new ones.

Saw one of the best shows I've ever seen last night. A great way to wrap up my trip. Nathaniel Rateliff And The Night Sweats at Red Rocks. Wow, you guys.

Was a great trick to be led onto the stage by The Preservation Hall Jazz Band playing a kind of funeral dirge. Rateliff was grateful and the band on fire. 'I Need Never Get Old' was my favorite song of the night. Ya'd think I brought the pogo ball back. He played a couple of his folk songs mid-set and I couldn't bottle it. It's gone now. But it was touching my soul. Reminded me that giving a damn pays off. After the show I went to the after party. There is a fanboy inside of me. I keep him bottled up well enough anymore - I just like thanking the people who make the music I adore. Appreciative. It was a sweet setting, a local place and everyone who was there was either a friend or family member of the band's. I really felt out of place, it was their night so I got out of there. But not before shaking the man's hand.

Also - wow, Caroline Rose and Shovels and Rope were incredible. I'm happy for Caroline Rose and a bit of personal connection there as I saw her at The Basement in Nashville just a year or more ago. She was impressive then and she sounded great in front of 15,000 more people. Shovels And Rope I'd never seen live but heard great things. Wow were they incredible. Captured everyone's attention from start to finish. Really, really talented people.

There is an 'Office Space' mural or two outside the Denver Mission. I agree and have agreed with this guy many times.

Started the trip off with a tour of Molly Brown's house and ending it with more coffee at The Purple Door. Denver and Boulder, wow. What a great part of the country to visit - must be great to live here. And what a gem you have in Red Rocks.

Post office, then airport, then Nashville, then home. A good book and my own pillow, come on.
